Fearsome Love

The eyes on moths with wings aloft cannot
Compare to your intense, entrancing gaze;
The poison sealed within—although I fought—
A bite enough to make my mind a daze,
As venom runs its lightning, painful course
So that the heart with silent breath must cry.
My body struggles, lacking any force,
With glassy recognition—death draws nigh;
Adrenaline electrifying me
Amidst collapsing lungs: remembrances
Of why I thought this path would set me free,
Provide a life without encumbrances—
Misfortune plagued us, caught us with its chains,
But still our love can wash away our pains.
